Types of massage 

Swedish Massage

Gentle manipulation of the soft tissues of the body to ease minor aches and day-to-day stresses and helps to relieve muscular tension, anxiety and promote relaxation.  It is a gentle massage using long strokes, kneading and circular movements to increase blood flow to the muscles and improve joint flexibility. The pressure is dependant on your preference.

Minimum recommended timings for a Swedish Massage is 1 hour, but you can book longer if your prefer.  You can book your Swedish Massage on our Bookings Page and select your preferred duration and type Swedish in the Notes Box.

Holistic Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage uses firm, sometimes isolated pressure and slow strokes to reach deeper layers of muscle and fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles).  It's used for chronic aches and pain and contracted areas such as a stiff neck and upper back, low back pain, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders.

While some of the strokes may feel the same as those used in Swedish Massage therapy, deep tissue massage isn't the same as having a regular massage with deep pressure.

Back, Neck and Shoulder Massage

Relaxing back, shoulder and neck massage as most of us feel tension and tightness in these areas.  This massage focuses on areas of tension and can include other related muscles.

Minimum recommended timings for a Back Massage is 30 minutes, but you can book longer if your prefer.  You can book your Back Massage on our Bookings Page and select your preferred duration and type Back Massage in the Notes Box.

PREGNANCY MASSAGE - PRENATAL & POSTNATAL

Massage is known to promote a healthy circulatory system, helping to transport fresh oxygen and nutrients to the tissues, not only of benefit to mum, but baby too, as this fresh blood filters through the placenta.

 

Post caesarean full body massage should only happen when the wound is pretty much healed, and pain levels are controlled, usually at least 2 weeks post surgery, to avoid risk of infection.

 

Postpartum massage can be done as early as the first few days following a natural delivery to help assist with the transition into motherhood, and is equally as important as pregnancy massage.

Indian Head (Scalp) Massage

The scalp massage helps to release tension caused by tensing the facial muscles from concentrating on a computer screen or having your hair tied back. Using only the fingertips this massage also works on relaxing the muscles in the face and used to help with drainage of fluids from the face which can help with blocked sinuses in certain instances. The muscles of the face and neck are often neglected and this massage helps you to achieve a feeling of balance within the body and used in combination with the massage helps you to achieve overall relaxation and well-being.

Mcloughlin scar tissue release (mstr)

A gentle non-invasive hands on technique that can be applied to any scarring caused by surgical procedures or muscle tearing.  It can be effective on both recent and older scarring.

Scar tissue is a natural response to trauma when the skin is punctured or lacerate, either by accident or surgical procedures. This trauma often carries emotions which can sometimes be subconscious.  MSTR reduces the superficial appearance of superficial scars but also helps blood flow to the underlying tissue.

Gentle, finger-tip pressure is applied to the area to help free the restrictions in the scar which is helpful for Cesarean section scars, Trauma scars such as those typically found on Knee Replacements, Mastectomy Scars, Amputation Scars, underlying scar tissue from Laparoscopic Surgery, etc.

**This is not a single treatment, you will need at least 3 sessions to show results. Book a 90min session as your first session and we will diarise 2 more sessions included in this price.

ThaI Foot Massage 

A gentle non-invasive hands on technique that focusses on the leg and soles of the feet.

A Thai foot massage is a deeply relaxing and healing treatment.
Using the hands, thai stick,  the massage therapist applies pressure to the feet and lower legs. This type of massage is said to help with circulation, pain relief, and stress reduction.

The massage will then begin, with your therapist focusing on each foot and lower leg in turn.

When it comes to how long a foot massage should last, there is no wrong answer. Everything is determined by your requirements and preferences.
If you only have a few minutes, a 30-minute massage may be all you need to reenergize your feet.

A longer 90-minute massage is available for a more relaxing experience. You can also get an hour-long massage to really pamper your feet.

Whatever length of time you choose to massage your feet, the important thing is that you do it.
